I am happy to show to serious potential bidders, and encourage viewing before bidding if possible. The bike is located in Ventura, just North of Los Angeles. The bike still has its original type Amal carburetor & air filter, alloy rims, seat with suede insert, correct fenders, and the beautiful Metralla front brake with large air scoop. The toolbox/oil tank/plunger are no longer with the bike, but these can be found on ebay or through Bultaco specialists in Spain (the original oil plunger was a clever idea, but it is much safer to premix your own fuel to get the proper ratio). The factory steel tank is in nice condition - it has been repainted in solid black (rather than two-tone silver & black). The bike can be serviced and enjoyed as it is (with a nice aged patina) or used for the basis of a restoration. These bikes are extremely simple to work on. The bike has been started recently but it has not been ridden in a while, and will need general servicing before it is ready to use. It has matching number engine and chassis, black CA plate, and old style pink slip title. #Bultaco metralla for sale plusThis is an unrestored original California bike that was found parked in a garage for the past 30 plus years. With aftermarket items like an expansion chamber, racing Dell'Orto carb, and revised gearing, the Metralla could do an honest 100 mph. In the 1967 250cc Production class race at the Isle of Man TT races, Bill Smith and Tommy Robb finished first and second on Metrallas and set a lap record for 250cc production machines that stood until 1976. The balance of handling, power and braking is just right. The lightweight Metralla's ability to grip the road inspires confidence. ![]() Bultaco nailed the steering geometry, rigidity and weight distribution. These bikes enjoy a well-deserved reputation for excellent road holding and being immensely fun to ride. The Metralla was the fastest 2-stroke street bike in the world back when it was introduced: 250cc, 5 speed transmission, and 32 horsepower. ![]()
